Cora Marie Crawford Bender

Funeral services for Cora Marie Crawford Bender, 74, Oskaloosa, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be at a later date in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Mrs. Bender died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at her home.
She was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Roy and Amanda Marie Magerfleisch Morrison. She was a 1954 graduate of Overbrook High School and had lived in Oskaloosa since 1960.
She worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Law Enforcement Center for more than 30 years, retiring in 2006.
She was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Red Hat Society and Jefferson County Republicans, serving as precinct committeewoman for many years.
She served many years on the Jefferson County Election Board, the Oskaloosa Housing Authority and as the Jefferson County Salvation Army representative.
She married Willis Crawford on Dec. 23, 1955, in Ottawa. They later divorced. She married Leroy Bender on Dec. 31, 1986, in Oskaloosa. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Alan Crawford and Mark Crawford and wife Jedena, all of Oskaloosa; two daughters, Debbie Harries and husband Brad and Robin Pottorf, all of Oskaloosa; a stepson, Alan Bender, Oskaloosa; two stepdaughters, Arlene Beurman and Lynn Patterson, both of Oskaloosa; three brothers, Fred Hulce, El Paso, Texas, Earl Hulce, Marietta, Ohio, and John Hulce, Overbrook; two sisters, May Gibson, Salina, and Lila Fox, Overbrook; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Pottorf.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.
