D. Douglas Breithaupt 1940 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for D. Douglas Breithaupt, 69, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Worden Cemetery in rural Douglas County.
He died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Lawrence, the son of Donald and Evelyn Nuffer Breithaupt.
Mr. Breithaupt served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a warehouse foreman for Kansas Construction for 23 years. He then worked the next 10 years for a dairy. He worked for Douglas County where he maintained the roadways and most recently had continued to help maintain the roadways for the Willow Spring Township until his death. He enjoyed being on the farm. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
He married Janet R. Hornberger on Oct. 11, 1963, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Eric and wife Brandi, Eudora; three brothers, Glenn and Jeri, both of Lawrence, and Kenny, Meriden; two sisters, Nancy Breithaupt, Lawrence, and Sylvia Haas, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Alec and Alyssa.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
