Leslie C. Boring

Funeral services for Leslie C. Boring, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Military graveside honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Boring died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Presbyterian Manor. He had been a resident of Lawrence since 1958.
He was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Pindall, Ark., the son of Ernest C. and Nellie Landergan Boring.
Mr. Boring served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He was a member of Ironworkers Local No. 10 of Kansas City, Mo. He was also a member of the Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church and the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, Lawrence.
He married Loretta N. Boring on Jan. 14, 1952, in Pendleton, Ore. She survives of the home.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Boring, Lawrence, Paul Boring, Canon City, Colo., and Phil Harris Teeter, Lawrence; one brother, David Boring, Gooding, Idaho; two sisters, Florence Bateman, Gresham, Ore., and Viola C. Hedrick, Goldendale, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
