Marlon James Lewis

Graveside inurnment for Marlon James Lewis, 52, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lawrence.
He died Monday, July 12, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1957, in Lawrence, the son of Dwane Lewis Sr. and Lorna Lewis Brown.
He attended Lawrence public schools as well as some schools in California. He spent most of his adult life in Lawrence and St. Louis, where he owned a steel company. At the time of death, Mr. Lewis’ marital status was unknown and through the years of failing health he became disabled.
Survivors include his parents; son Deshon Lewis and his wife Alexia and their children Anya and Deshon Jr.; son Shawn, of Lawrence, and Nicholas and Djuan Lewis of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Natasha, of Centralia, Ill.; brothers Dwane Lewis II of Lawrence and Michael Lewis of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Sonnja Blevins of Raytown, Mo., Kathleen Lewis of Lawrence, Stacy Guerriér of Oakland, Calif., and Shann Cheatem and husband John, of Iowa; nieces Rachael, Lanai and Rebecca Cheatem; nephews Andrew Blevins, Austin and Aydrian Gray, Jaamil Maalik-Boyd, Keon Lewis and John Cheatem Jr.; a very special companion, Cynthia Wingebach, of Eudora, and her daughters Jodi Able and husband Mark, and Alisha Wingebach, all of Overland Park. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marquis, of Lawrence.
At Mr. Lewis’ request there will be no public viewing of the body and no public reception following the burial.
