Ellis Carter Thatcher 1925 - 2010 Lee's Summit, Mo.
Services for Ellis Carter Thatcher, 85, Lee’s Summit, are pending. Cremation is planned.
Mr. Thatcher, formerly of Lawrence, Kan., died Friday, July 9, 2010, in Lee’s Summit.
He was born March 11, 1925, in Independence, Mo., the son of Thomas William and Madge Alice Mendenhall Thatcher.
He attended Graceland College in Iowa and Kansas University.
Mr. Thatcher served in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Dayton.
He was an electrical engineer. He worked more than 25 years for Lockheed at NASA. He was also a ham radio operator and enjoyed woodworking and model trains.
He married Marilyn Jean Vaughn on Dec. 29, 1956, in Twining, Mich. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Fouchereaux, Yarmouth, Maine, Vicki Baltz, Lee’s Summit, and Lori Sorensen, Honolulu; two brothers, Thomas, Shawano, Wis., and David and wife Lynn, Independence, Mo.; one sister, Mary Beckwith, Rapid City, S.D.; and seven grandchildren.
Marts Memorial Services in Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
