A. Evelyn Burk

Graveside services for A. Evelyn Burk, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stony Point Cemetery in rural Douglas County, with Chaplain Noreen Lozano officiating.
Mrs. Burk died Monday, July 12, 2010, at her home.
She was born June 13, 1922, in Ottawa, the daughter of Robert and Edna Ebens Reedy. She attended schools in Ottawa, and graduated from Ottawa High School.
Mrs. Burk worked at Hallmark Cards for 30 years. She and her husband also owned and operated Burk Awning Company in downtown Lawrence for many years.
She had lived in Lawrence since 1946, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married Kenneth E. Burk on April 4, 1942, in Ottawa. He died Nov. 26, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include four children, Susan J. Frazey and husband Gil, Eudora, Robert R. Burk and wife Vicky, Lawrence, Barb Vantuyl, Lawrence, and William R. Burk and partner Scot Stockton, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
