Mary E. Clark 1919 - 2010 Lawrence
Funeral services for Mary E. Clark, 91, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Maple Hill.
Mrs. Clark died Friday, July 9, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born May 7. 1919, in Lawrence, the daughter of Oliver Henry and Bessie Maude Wilson Evans. She attended Oread High School in Lawrence for three years, and graduated from Shelton High School in Shelton, Wash.
Mrs. Clark worked at Fort Lewis in Washington state, then returned to Lawrence and worked for Lawrence Independent Laundry and later Hercules Powder Company. She retired from Hercules in the mid 1950s, and she and her husband farmed and raised cattle. She was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton Extension Homemaker’s Unit, and Clinton Historical Society.
She married Russell F. “Bud” Clark on Aug. 2, 1946, in Coffeyville. He died May 4, 1989.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Olive Maude Pickett.
Survivors include two brothers, Forest Evans and Philip Evans, both of Olympia, Wash.; three sisters, Aileen Else, Lawrence, Doris Marshall and husband Jim, Pineville, Mo., and Virginia Curtis and husband Lewis Kirk, rural Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from noon to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Clinton Historical Society or Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
