Robert L. Fanshier 1922 - 2010 Great Bend
Funeral services for Robert L. Fanshier, 87, Great Bend, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., Great Bend, with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating.
Interment will be in Eden Valley Cemetery, Seward, with military honors by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Mr. Fanshier died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at his home in Great Bend.
He was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Great Bend, the son of J. Henry and Jennie Irene (Suchy) Fanshier.
Mr. Fanshier was a lifetime resident of Stafford County. He was a farmer and stockman.
A World War II veteran, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps from December 1942 to December 1945.
Mr. Fanshier was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180 and Great Bend Cooperative Association Board of Directors, all of Great Bend.
He married Frances R. Mills on June 20, 1950, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Randy Fanshier and wife Angie, Great Bend, Roger Fanshier and wife Gayle, Seward, and Brad Fanshier and wife Danelle, Lawrence; two daughters, Patricia Fanshier, Kansas City, Mo., and Pamela Phillips, Wichita; a sister, June Koelsch, Great Bend; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Fanshier and wife Kristin, Memphis, Tenn., Matthew Fanshier and wife Julie, Omaha, Neb., Ben Fanshier and wife Jenna, Dodge City, Andrew Fanshier and fiancee Mercedes, Hays, Lucas Fanshier, Manhattan, Jacob Fanshier, Hays, Alisha Fanshier, Seward, Robert Phillips, Wichita, and Tanna Fanshier, Sam Fanshier, and Tate Fanshier, all of Lawrence; and three great-grandchildren, Cole Fanshier, Cooper Fanshier and Aiden Fanshier.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or First United Methodist Church, all in care of the funeral home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, KS 67530.
