Mary Fitz-Gerald Ziegelmeyer

Mary Fitz-Gerald Ziegelmeyer was born to Ina Wertz Fitz-Gerald and James Fitz-Gerald in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Holy Family Grade School and graduated from Tulsa Central High School. Mary graduated from the University of Kansas in 1940, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Mary and John Joseph Ziegelmeyer were married on October 4, 1941, in Washington D.C. Mary was a member of the Junior League of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Association, Salvation Army, St. Agnes Church and Altar Society, Musettes of the Kansas City Museum and was Board Member of the Camp Fire Girls.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband on December 13, 2009. She leaves two daughters, Molly Ziegelmeyer Helling, Dallas, Texas, and Martha Ziegelmeyer Suess, San Antonio, Texas; and a son, John J. Ziegelmeyer, Jr., Lawrence, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2010, at St. Agnes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., KCK, where the Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, KS 66205. The family would also like to thank Catholic Charities Hospice for the tender care that was provided Mary in her last days.
