Rachel E. Grantham 1910 - 2010 Overland Park

Graveside services for Rachel E. Grantham, 99, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Grantham died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Garden Terrace of Overland Park.
She was born April 25, 1910, in Iola, the daughter of Perry and Emma Powell Heath. She lived for many years in Lawrence.
Mrs. Grantham was a graduate of Iola Community Junior College and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Emporia State University.
She was a retired school teacher and librarian for USD 497 in Lawrence. She taught first at Woodlawn School and later at McAllister Elementary School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Theta Sigma Upsilon social sorority, and the Kappa Kappa Iota professional sorority. She was a lifetime member of the National Educational Association. She was for many years the docent coordinator at the Watkins Community Museum of History and also volunteered for Audio Reader.
She married Wendell P. Grantham on Oct. 9, 1933, in Allen County. He died April 6, 1954.
Survivors include a son, Winston Grantham, Lenexa; a daughter, Marilyn Good, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
