Terry G. Engel 1946 - 2010 Lawrence
Memorial services for Terry George Engel, 63, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Engel died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
He was born Jan. 27, 1946, in New Britain, Conn., the son of George Henry and Doralyn Avis Edmonds Engel. He moved to Lawrence in 1964 to attend Kansas University.
Mr. Engel worked for the city of Lawrence for 26 years until his retirement in 2007.
He married Mary Louise Newell in 1968. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Angela Marie Engel and Joy Lynn Engel Coleman, both of Lawrence; a son, Jon Mikel, Lawrence; four brothers, Michael, Gloucester, England, George, Southington, Conn., Marthalyn, New Britain, Conn., and Mark, Apex, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Deitrich Schmidt and Samuel and Gracie Coleman.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family meet them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorials to Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS Association or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
