Maxine Pauline Hougland

A funeral service for Maxine Pauline Hougland, 84, Perry, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence.
She died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at her home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Charles Albert and Nellie Yoma Hays Moore.
She attended schools in the rural Fort Scott area.
Mrs. Hougland was a homemaker.
She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. She volunteered at the Social Service League for more than 10 years. She was awarded the Wallace Galluzzi Volunteer of the Year award. She enjoyed making quilts and genealogy, and was a past member of the Douglas County Genealogical Society. She volunteered to serve LINK meals.
She married Sherman Fredrick Hougland on June 3, 1945, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Ann Strunk and husband Max, Perry; two sons, David Ray, Lawrence, and Fredrick Gene, Skiatook, Okla.; five grandchildren, Cheryl Hougland, Christopher Hougland, Candice Densmore, Suzanne Watson and Crystal Helm; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
