Juanita June Riley

The Mass of Christian Burial for Juanita June Riley, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in the Lapeer Community in southwest Douglas County. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery in North Topeka.
Mrs. Riley died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born June 14, 1924, in Topeka, the daughter of William L. and Alta Phillips Arnold. She had lived for many years in Hutchinson, and moved to Lawrence in 1994 from Hutchinson.
She was a graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Training at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. Her hobbies included fishing, traveling, card games, table games and generally providing hospitality to the residents of Vermont Towers in Lawrence for many years.
Mrs. Riley was a retired licensed practical nurse. She had worked at the KU Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, both in Hutchinson. She retired in 1991.
She married Alvin J. Riley on June 29, 1957, in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death in November 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Hegeman and husband Bill, of rural Lawrence; a son, Thomas and wife Marilyn Eberhart of Hutchinson; two sisters; Alice Maxine Flack of Augusta, Mich., and Dixie Lee Dodson, of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Grammer, Michael Hegeman, Annette Glahn, Mark Hegeman, Lisa Zwiener, Christy Adkins, Cary Eberhart and Sunshine Groves; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A parish rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, after which the family will greet friends until 8 p.m.
