J. LaVaughn Miller

Funeral services for J. LaVaughn Miller, 84, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 28, 1925, in Andover, Ill., the daughter of Arnold and Irene Hultgren Fair. She lived for many years with her husband and family in Moline, Ill. She moved to Lawrence in the fall of 2005.
Mrs. Miller formerly worked in the City Clerk’s Office in Moline, Ill. Prior to that, she had worked for Montgomery Elevator Company in Moline.
She was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Moline. She had also attended two years of business college.
She married Vernon J. Miller on Oct. 10, 1948, in Andover, Ill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and wife Terri Olson Miller, of Seattle, and Jim Miller and wife Martha Tucci, of Lawrence; a brother, John Fair, of Racine, Wis.; a sister, Lorraine Sanford, of Bella Vista, Ark., and seven grandchildren, Andy, Charlie, Jackie, Emily, Grant, Lucca and Michelle.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
The family suggests memorials to the Bethel Methodist Church in Moline or to Save the Children, sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
