Melvin Robert Davidson 1922 - 2010 Linwood
Melvin Robert Davidson
Funeral services for Melvin Robert Davidson, 87, Linwood, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Sidney Cemetery, Linwood.
Mr. Davidson died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1922, in Linwood, the son of Charles and Selma Seely Davidson. He graduated from Linwood High School in 1939. After graduation, he took over operation of the Davidson family farm, raising and milking Holstein cows for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1962, along with his son, Scott.
He married Shirley M. Mosser on Aug. 25, 1950, and they shared nearly 60 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, David and fiancée Kathy, Russell and wife Kathy, and Scott and wife Lauri; a brother, C.D. “Jack” and wife Lu; and three grandchildren, Shelley, Lindsay and Spencer.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will meet them from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorials to Linwood United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
