Bettie Ruth Nebergall 1926 - 2009 St. George, Utah
Funeral services for Bettie Ruth Nebergall, 83, St. George, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Kuzy Hall at the St. George Catholic Church, 259 W. 200 North, St. George. Burial will take place at a later date in Hesston, Kan.
Mrs. Nebergall died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in St. George, after a long illness.
She was born May 31, 1926, in Burns, Kan., the daughter of Leo and Ivah Westerhaus. She attended high school in Burns.
Mrs. Nebergall earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in fine arts from the University of Wichita in 1947. She was recognized with many honors in art and music. She taught school in La Crosse, Kan., and Great Bend, Kan.
After retiring, Mrs. Nebergall and her husband enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel and spent many winters in Yuma, Ariz. They lived in Lawrence, Kan., for a few years and later moved to St. George.
Mrs. Nebergall was an active member of the Catholic church.
She married James Boyd Nebergall on June 4, 1948. He survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Lillian Cross, St. George, Lexie Engleman, Lawrence, and Lynn Matthews, Banamichi, Mexico; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
