Pauline Richards Lindell

Funeral services for Pauline Richards Lindell, 91, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Teske officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Lindell died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Lawrence, the daughter of Ernst Martin and Carrie Hird Richards.
She attended one-room Brackett School, and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School.
She later earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1940, and a bachelor’s degree in education in 1960 from Kansas University, where she was inducted into Pi Lambda Theta national educational honorary society.
Mrs. Lindell worked in the offices of Lawrence Paper Company, and later at Cities Service in Lake Charles, La. She returned to Lawrence, and taught elementary grades in the Lawrence school district for 21 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Gold Medal Club, the YTN club, and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and traveled to 48 states, Canada and Mexico.
She married Charles E. Lindell on Sept. 28, 1940, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Charlene Lisher and husband Mel Jr., Lawrence; two grandsons, Chad Lisher and Carl Lisher; and one great-granddaughter, ElliAnna Lisher.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
