Virginia L. Grob

Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia L. Grob, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Grob died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 5, 1932, in Eudora, the daughter of Clement and Edna Sommer Zillner.
Mrs. Grob was a homemaker. She was employed by USD 497 for 26 years in food service.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Forty-Niner Club of Lawrence High School.
She married Donald A. Grob on July 28, 1952, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her father and a brother, Paul Zillner.
Survivors include her mother, of Lawrence; three daughters, Sue Elder, Newton, Elaine Creasey, Lawrence, and Janice Grob-French, De Soto; four sons, Allen, Gary and Dean, all of Lawrence, and Brad, Lenexa; a sister, Joyce Halderman, Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or the St. John’s Altar Society, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
