Thomas W. Peters

Dover, Del. — Funeral services for Thomas W. “Pete” Peters, 80, Seaford, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel in Dover. Burial with military honors will follow at Sharon Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Peters died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010.
He was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Narberth, Pa., the son of Lester Peters and Eleanor Sailor.
Mr. Peters served in the U.S. Air Force, from which he retired as a tech sergeant, flight engineer, after 21 years. He followed his Air Force career with a second, 20-year career with the state of Delaware, where he was sign shop supervisor in the traffic section of the Department of Transportation until 1991. Previously, Mr. Peters was a technical illustrator working on the Apollo space program at ILC.
He was an avid collector of baseball cards. Mr. Peters and his wife owned Pete and Helen’s Baseball Card Shop in downtown Dover.
He was an artist whose hobbies included woodworking, painting, and many crafts, such as custom-designed whirligigs. He enjoyed singing, and in 1947, he won the Air Force talent show at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Peters also taught Sunday school. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Seaford.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Helen M. Peters, Seaford; a daughter, Melody C. Peters, Dover; a brother, Eugene and wife Joan, Albrightsville, Pa.; two sisters, Joan Baymond, Albrightsville, and Shirley Hough and husband Don, Berwyn, Pa.; four stepsons, Frank Fantini and wife Ali Stark, Dover, Ermond “Ernie” Fantini and wife Phyllis, Lawrence, Kan., Ray Fantini and wife Susan, Eden, Md., and Kenny Fantini, Atlanta; four grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlyn and Franklin Fantini, and Donnie Wessels; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Peters was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James.
