Edward Speich Sr. 1945 - 2010 Lawrence
A memorial service for Edward “Skip” R. Speich Sr., 65, Lawrence, will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Speich died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1945, in Kansas City, the son of Robert Walter and Ruth Louise Speich.
Mr. Speich worked while in high school and later became manager for Cuttings United Super in Platte Woods, Mo., for more than 20 years. He owned an antiques store in Ottawa, and was a manager in two grocery stores in Ottawa. He became a school bus driver for the Lawrence school district and was a volunteer fireman in Parkville, Mo.
He married Donna Duncan Briggs on Oct. 10, 1998, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Danni Harrison, Overland Park, Tracy Foss, Brandon-ville, Fla., and Tina Briggs, Lawrence; four sons, Bob, of Mission, Allen, North Kansas City, Mo., Chris, Riverside, Mo., and Aaron Briggs, Lawrence; two brothers, David, Gladstone, Mo., and Michael, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson on the way.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
