Robert Kammeyer

Memorial services for Robert Kammeyer, 50, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will take place Sunday, Feb. 21, from noon to 3 p.m. at Liberty Hall.
He died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in Lawrence.
He was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Alice Kimberley and Kenneth Kammeyer. He spent his early years in Davis, Calif., before moving to Lawrence in 1968. He attended Lawrence public schools.
He was a licensed arborist and was self-employed in Lawrence for many years.
He loved the outdoors and nature, and enjoyed the downtown Lawrence lifestyle and spending time with friends.
He is survived by his mother, of Lawrence, and father, of Dayton, Md.; a son, Simon Dragen, Lawrence; a sister Leslie McFarland and husband Scott; a niece, Lindsay Muzzy and husband Taylor, Chicago; a nephew, Kyle McFarland; an uncle, Harry Kimberley, Maxwell, Iowa; an aunt, Ruth McGinnis, Marshalltown, Iowa; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ike and Beatrice Kimberley and Lucinda and Emil Kammeyer, and his beloved dog, Homer.
The family suggests memorials to the Sierra Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
