Dixie Lee Vitt 1928 - 2010 Lawrence
A memorial service for Dixie Lee “Bradshaw” Vitt, 81, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Vitt died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Lock Springs, Mo., the daughter of Grover E. and Mary Lee Eads Bradshaw. She graduated from Lock Springs High School in 1946.
Mrs. Vitt moved to Lawrence in 1946 from Lock Springs. She was a homemaker. She also worked for the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office, was a secretary at Cordley School, and was employed at Janelle’s Dress Shop. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and had been a past member in the Trinity Episcopal Church Altar Guild.
She married Wayne Joseph Vitt on July 23, 1947, in Lawrence. He died June 3, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marian Bradshaw, and a brother, Robert Bradshaw.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Hendry and husband Joe, Lawrence, and Cheryl Mitchell and husband Steve, Lawrence; two brothers, Howard Bradshaw, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Ritchie Bradshaw, Blue Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Ruby Williams, Kansas City, Kan., Nadene Stamper, Utica, Mo., and Helen Bradshaw, Gladstone, Mo.; four grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell, Jared Mitchell, Stacy Mitchell and Joanna Jones; a great-grandson, Enzo Mitchell; longtime friend Velma Mignot, Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Lung Association, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
