Darlene I. Schneider 1932 - 2010 Lawrence
Memorial services for Darlene I. Schneider, 77, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Schneider died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She had brain cancer.
She was born April 10, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of Clem and Inez Mintie Harlan Horine. She graduated from Central High School in 1950 and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Missouri Western.
Mrs. Schneider was a tax auditor for the state of Missouri. She was a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 in Lawrence, numerous bridge clubs and Welcome Wagon. She enjoyed playing bridge, shopping for jewelry and doing taxes for the senior center.
She married Al Bolz on April 1, 1953. They lived in Colby for several years. They divorced in 1977. She married John Nelson Schneider on Feb. 29, 1988. He died in 1995.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darla Bolz; and a brother, Paul Horine.
Survivors include a daughter, Allison Martin and husband Kelly, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Kahla, Taylor and Aftan Martin and Andrea Bolz, all of Lawrence; four stepchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Darlene Schneider Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
