Prince A. Tyler

Graveside funeral services for Prince A. Tyler, 78, of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Tyler died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Windsor Place in Lawrence.
He was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Harrisonville, Mo., the son of Fred and Grace A. Meyer Tyler.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Securitas in 2004 as a security officer. He had previously worked for Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, Meyer Lumber in Merriam and the Diamond Lumber Company in Lawrence.
He was a member of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post 852, both in Lawrence. He was a former member of the Teamsters Union.
He was married to Lois Idell Irwin for 15 years and they had five children. He later married Geraldine Patterson on July 29, 1970, in Reno, Nev. She survives of Lawrence.
Other survivors include three daughters, Diane Smith and husband Gary, Kansas City, Kan., Carol Gray and husband Gene, Prairie Grove, Ark., and Karen Tyler and husband Brian, San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Cecil Miller and wife Terry, of Smithville, Mo., Dennis Tyler, Lawrence, and Stephen Tyler Sr. and wife Betty, of Lawrence; one brother, Herman Tyler, Arcadia; one sister, Shirley, of California; 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa, Jessica, Amanda, Justin, Stephen Jr., Michael, Tonya, Amy, Pam, Laura and Rebecca; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
