Lucila G. Davalos

Mass of Christian Burial for Lucila G. Davalos, 80, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.
Mrs. Davalos died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at her home.
She was born April 17, 1930, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Roberto and Eva Garza.
She attended Holding Institute High School in Laredo. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., from Anahuac, Mexico, in 1962 and then moved to Overland Park in 1969. She had lived in Lawrence since 2006.
She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry in Kansas City, Mo., and was a window display artist at LeeWards for 20 years. She later worked at Wangs Wholesale and also served samples at a store.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and previously attended Queen of the Holy Rosary in Overland Park from 1969 to 2006. She also was a member of Forever Young, Kansas State Research and Extension, and she volunteered as an election worker.
She married Fermin Davalos on July 1, 1956, in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He preceded her in death April 11, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Eduardo “Eddie” Davalos and wife Diane, Lawrence, and Fermin Davalos and wife Janice Budai, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Jordan.
