Alice Lucille Templer

Memorial services for Alice Lucille “Lucy” Templer, 92, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist church in Leoti, with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Inurnment will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Mrs. Templer died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at The Arbor of Brandon Woods.
She was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Greenfield, Ill., the daughter of William and Mabelle Cole Robbins.
Mrs. Templer earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwestern College in 1937. She began her career as an educator and in 1951 moved to Leoti, serving as an English and speech teacher and librarian for the Wichita County school district. She also was a speech and debate coach for many years. She retired in 1982. She moved from Leoti to Lawrence in 2007.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Omiyage and various bridge clubs, all in Leoti.
She married Woodrow W. “Woody” Templer on June 8, 1941, in Larned. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Bill Templer, Siloam Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Patty Hart, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Derek and Geri Kay Hart, Heather Motzny and Ryan Templer; and four great-grandchildren, Maddie and Kenzie Motzny and Remy and Roman Kulick-Hart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Raymond Robbins; and four sisters, Marian Robbins, Helen Baier, Ruth Duncan and Billie Beck.
