Clyde W. Sherve

Funeral services for Clyde W. Sherve, 73, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Mr. Sherve died Monday, April 26, 2010, at his daughter’s home in Oskaloosa.
He was born Oct. 20, 1936, at McVille, N.D., the son of Ole and Cora Johnson Sherve. He had lived in Oskaloosa since 1973, moving from Topeka after moving from Grand Forks, N.D., in 1969.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lakota High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957 in the 1st Battalion Platoon. He was a member of the American Legion Ozawkie Post 225.
Mr. Sherve was self-employed. He was the owner and operator of Sherve Pest Control Services from 1969 to 1990. He also owned and managed rental property along with other ventures.
He married Norma Lenora Peterson on July 3, 1959, at Valley City, N.D. She preceded him in death May 4, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jean Sherve, and a brother, Sylvan.
Survivors include a son, Cameron L. Sherve, Lawrence; two daughters, Marcy Brey, Oskaloosa, and Karen Porteous, Overland Park; three brothers, Kermit, Lakota, N.D., Frayne, Lake Park, Minn., and Ronald, Atkinson, Neb.; two sisters, Ione Johnson, Buffalo, N.D., and Irene Bakke, Bloomington, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
