Donald Lee Chaney

Services for Donald Lee Chaney, 71, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1939, in Welch, Okla., the son of Roy Newton and Rosa Carmen Williams Chaney. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1958.
Mr. Chaney served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a pipefitter and foreman for Farmland Industries. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, a founding member of the Douglas County Amateur Baseball Association (DCABA), and was involved with youth baseball for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and maintaining the farm.
He married Sharon Lynn Rogers on Jan. 5, 1962, at the Centenary United Methodist Church. They shared 48 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Mark and Mike, Lawrence, and Rodney, Overland Park; five brothers, Marvin and wife Virginia, Wellsville, James, Linwood, and Roy and wife Marilyn, Richard and wife Kathy, and John and wife Mary, all of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Emily Ann Elliott and Sarah Elizabeth Chaney; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Madeline Elliott.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Chaney, on Feb. 14, 2010.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home.
