Wanda M. Tenpenny

Wanda M. Tenpenny, 86, of the Williamstown community of Perry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the Clare Bridge Assisted Living facility in Topeka.
She was born June 15, 1923, at Lawrence, the daughter of Clinton F. and Rosie Lee Cody Trusty. Wanda married Harold D. Tenpenny on December 17, 1943, at Lawrence. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1993. Wanda and Harold had two children, David and Janice. Janice died in 1971, and David died in 1994.
Wanda was an accomplished homemaker, cook, farm wife and a skilled quilter. She was an active member of the Williamstown Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School and served the church community in many ways. For many years, Wanda served as the cook at the “Billtown Café.”
Wanda was also preceded in death by a brother, Lester Trusty, and a sister, Lila Pearson.
Survivors include her twin sister, Frances E. Schuler, Topeka, her daughter-in-law, Ann Tenpenny, Topeka, two grandsons, Scot Tenpenny, Overland Park, and Chad Tenpenny, Lenexa, and four great-grandchildren.
Wanda was dedicated to her family, church and community, setting a wonderful example through faith and hard work.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Williamstown Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Underwood Cemetery, Williamstown. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, prior to services at the church.
