Mary E. Cordaro 1920 - 2010 Lawrence
Memorial services for Mary E. Cordaro, 90, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Lawrence. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
She died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born March 27, 1920, in Glenview, Ill., the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Volkmann Ensor. She lived for many years in Chicago and St. Louis, and moved to Lawrence in 1988 from St. Louis.
Mrs. Cordaro served God by tending to the needs of others throughout her lifetime. She cared for the sick and needy, fed the poor and provided counseling for many.
She attended the Lawrence Wesleyan Church and led Bible studies in many places that she lived. She loved to cook, travel, garden, shop and listen to opera.
She was married to Joseph A. Cordaro on May 30, 1952. He preceded her in death in March 1974.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Cederstrand of Omaha, Neb., and Jude McDaniel, of Lawrence; two sons, Jack Kraaz, of Ripon, Wis., and Stephen Kraaz, of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church from 3 p.m. until service time Monday.
