James “Jimmy” R. Pelham

Funeral services for James R. “Jimmy” Pelham, 65, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Pelham died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas, the son of James Henry and Nancy M. Baker Pelham.
He owned Pelham Construction, from 1970 until he retired in 2006.
Mr. Pelham was a breeder and showperson of Maine Coon cats and a member of the Cat Fanciers’ Association. He and his wife owned Jayhawkcats Cattery in Lawrence for 19 years.
He attended Free Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Mr. Pelham married Connie Lee Fogg on Jan. 31, 1964, in Wichita. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Milledgeville, Ga.; a daughter, Sabra Deniese Pelham, Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a son, James “Scott” Pelham, Flower Mound, Texas; and four grandchildren, Parker and Auriona East, and Sam and Ellie Pelham.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St.
