Roy William Hillebert
Funeral services for Roy William Hillebert, 51, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Hillebert died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, from injuries suffered in an industrial accident in Lawrence as he attempted to save the life of a co-worker.
He was born Dec. 22, 1958, in Ottawa, the son of Joseph W. Sr. and Lois L. Minor Hillebert. He attended schools in Arma.
Mr. Hillebert worked in construction and built many homes. Most recently, he was employed by MagnaGro International. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family gatherings and camping. He enjoyed working on hot rods and classic cars, and racing.
Survivors include a son, Bradley William Hillebert, Lawrence; a daughter, Alesha Mae Hillebert, Lawrence; their mother, Anita Breiner, Raytown, Mo.; two brothers, John Hillebert and Joseph W. Ward Jr., Eudora; five sisters, Sadie Ruth Coon, Janee Hillebert, Joan Ellis and Lora Victoria Hillebert, all of Eudora, and Marilyn Smardo, Franklin; and four grandchildren, Lillian Mae Cooper, Hannah Honey Hillebert, Hillary Claire Hillebert and Logan Michael Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bruce French and Danny and Teddy Hillebert.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
