Clarence F. Rous

Claflin — Funeral services for Clarence F. Rous, 82, LaCrosse, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Claflin, with the Rev. Mark Lovett officiating.
Burial will be at Claflin Cemetery.
Mr. Rous died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse.
He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in rural Barton County, the son of Frank and Selma Elizabeth “Lizzie” Seyfert Rous.
Mr. Rous was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and handyman.
He was a lifetime resident of Claflin.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was the former church treasurer, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ralph B. Praeger Post No. 8668, all of Claflin.
He married Winnifred A. Slayton on May 29, 1952, in Claflin. She preceded him in death Feb. 18, 1987. He married Delores Coker Shaw on April 30, 1989, in Claflin. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Susan Klug and husband Mark, Lawrence, and Kathleen Kirmer and husband Alan and Kayleen Gaddis and husband Mike, all of Claflin; four sons, Vernon, Hays, Steven and wife Linda, Fairview, Okla., Sheldon and wife Bennie Krier, Claflin, and Calvin and wife Terri, Hoisington; a sister, Elsie Beck and husband John, Newton; a stepdaughter, Vicki Webb, Ellinwood; a stepson, Kirby Shaw and wife Paula, Bison; 12 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Rous.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Claflin Ambulance Fund, American Diabetes Association or South Wind Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 415 North Main, Hoisington, KS 67544.
