Jack Bernarnd Glidewell 1923 - 2009 Yates Center
Tonganoxie — Funeral services for Jack Bernard Glidewell, 86, Yates Center, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Glidewell, formerly of Leavenworth and Jefferson County, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born April 3, 1923, in Galt, Mo., the son of Clyde and Dora Jobe Glidewell.
He served the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Glidewell spent 44 years in the Laborers Union Local 1290, working for W.W. Bennett Construction Company, Maxwell Bridge Company, Tri-City Construction Company and Barcus Construction Company, where he retired in 1985. He was a Freemason for nearly 60 years.
His wife, Ruth Louise Glidewell, preceded him in death in 2003.
Survivors include, two sons, Robert, Bonner Springs, and Bernie, Kansas City, Kan.; one grandson and four granddaughters; two sisters, Shirley Lust, Kansas City, Kan., and Joyce Saragusa; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 pm Wednesday at the Quisenberry Chapel.
