Donald Lee Daugherty

Oskaloosa — Memorial inurnment for Donald Lee Daugherty, 74, Ozawkie, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Mr. Daugherty died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Gary, Ind., the son of Perry and Ermyntrude Dean Daugherty.
Mr. Daugherty graduated from Horton High School in 1952. He earned an education degree from Emporia State Teachers College. He also attended Highland Community College and Washburn University.
Mr. Daugherty was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as an aerographer mate on the U.S.S. Pine Island.
He had lived in Oskaloosa many years moving from Prairie Village. He was a school teacher, serving in Indianola, Everest, Topeka, Oskaloosa and Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Daugherty retired in 1996, after 39 years. After his retirement, he was a driver for the Jefferson County Service Organization from 1996 to 2009.
Mr. Daugherty was a member of the American Legion Post No. 36 in Oskaloosa, No. 225 in Ozawkie, and V.F.W. Post No. 10815 in Meriden. He was also a member of the Kansas Teachers Association and was a former Scout leader.
He married Jennie Rene Sabin on Feb. 15, 1957, in Hiawatha. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Rodney, Big Springs, and Jeffrey, McLouth; two daughters, Julie Hall, Oskaloosa, and Licia Haverkamp, Carbondale; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
