Milton Earl Harris

Funeral services for Milton Earl Harris, 72, McLouth, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lawrence.
Mr. Harris died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at his home, following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 20, 1936, in Lawrence, the son of Earl E. and Leota May Sutton Harris. He attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School.
Mr. Harris served four years in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Garrett’s Market for many years. He later began working for Kansas Power & Light in 1966 as a lineman, and retired in 1992 with 26 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Jerry Kornbrust Line Builders and later for Pine Family Farms for eight years.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 403 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 853, both of Lawrence, and the Travelers Protective Association.
He married Shirley Ann Grammer on July 10, 1961, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Candy K. Terry, Judy Lynn Powers and Sheila Ann Harris, all of Lawrence; a sister, H. Louise Grandstaff, Lawrence; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. before services Monday at the funeral home.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Jefferson County Health Care and Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
