Clay Hurst Kappelman 1956 - 2009 Lawrence
Memorial services for Clay Hurst Kappelman, 53, Lawrence, will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H. He was cremated.
Mr. Kappelman died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009.
He was born Feb. 5, 1956, the son of Karl C. and Josephine A. Hurst Kappelman.
Mr. Kappelman was a lifelong Lawrence resident. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1974 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University in 1980. He owned and operated Clay Kappelman Photography and AVC Productions in Lawrence for the past 30 years.
Mr. Kappelman was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a Cub Scoutmaster for Pack 3059 and an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 59. He also belonged to the Certified Professional Photographers of America and was a member of the Kansas Film Commission.
He married Brenda L. Olson on Oct. 10, 1981, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Colin, Nolan, Derek and Nathan, all of Lawrence; his mother, Lawrence; two sisters, Margy Rose and husband Randy, Lawrence, and Carol L. Kappelman, Sanford, Fla.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Dotti Olson, Lawrence; two nieces, Tiffany Hopkins and Samantha Rose; and a nephew, Robert Rose.
The family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the Kappelman Children’s Education Fund, sent in care of the Lawrence Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 3821 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, KS 66049.
