Michael George Burke 1952 - 2009 Osawatomie
Funeral services for Michael “Mickey” George Burke, 56, Osawatomie, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Lawrence. Inurnment will take place in Blue Mound at a later date.
Mr. Burke died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.
He was born Dec. 5, 1952, in Fort Hood, Texas, the son of David L. and Mary Jo Carson Burke.
He was a structural iron worker for the Kansas City Local No. 10.
He enjoyed the outdoors, KU athletics, repairing automobiles and tractors. He loved children and his dog, Spot.
He married Rosemary Jones on Sept. 25, 1982, in Houston. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Mary Jo Collison, and Paul of Kimberling City, Mo.; one daughter, Michelle Lynn Burke, San Diego; one son, Adrian Paul, Osawatomie; one brother, Monte D., Kimberling City, Mo.; one grandson, Deven Michael Burke; and one nephew, Jeffery Burke.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Deven Michael Burke Educational Fund, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
