Maurice Brown Frandle 1910 - 2009 Perry
Perry — Services for Maurice Brown Frandle, 99, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.
Mrs. Frandle died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at the West Lafayette, Ind., home of her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom Clark.
She was born at home Sept. 7, 1910, in Perry, the daughter of Walter B. and Margaret Ploughe Brown. She attended Perry Grade School and Perry High School, where she graduated as valedictorian.
Mrs. Frandle graduated from Kansas University in 1931. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Mu Epsilon for math and Pi Lambda Theta in education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority and a 50-year member of the Order of Golden Rose.
Mrs. Frandle taught math at Winchester and Onaga high schools and Perry and Williamstown elementary schools in Kansas. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Frandle enjoyed reading and was a storyteller of children’s tales. She was a charter member of the Civic Study Club. Mrs. Frandle belonged to the Knife and Fork Club and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed Kansas basketball and was a member of the Crimson and Blue Club at KU. She also enjoyed many journeys in the United States for family visits. Mrs. Frandle was the longest-holding member of the Perry United Methodist Church. She was active in United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school, hosted Circle meetings and helped with various church and youth activities.
She married Donald Frandle on Oct. 23, 1937, in Perry Methodist Church. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Meta Maichel and Merna Hartman, and a brother, Marlin Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy F. Clark and husband Tom, West Lafayette, Ind., and Sara Simpson and husband Larry, Landenberg, Pa.; a grandson, Rustin Simpson; a sister, Margaret Hodson, Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
