Loyd D. Davidson 1922 - 2009 Lawrence
Combined funeral services for Loyd D. Davidson, 87, and his wife, Billie D. Davidson, 82, both of Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Davidson died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at Hickory Pointe in Oskaloosa.
He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Thida, Ark., the son of John Z. and Ann Stewart Davidson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
He was a licensed electrician. He had worked for Hercules, Sears, Coca-Cola and retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in 1987.
He married Billie Dozier on Aug. 10, 1946, in Batesville, Ark. She followed him in death Sept. 14, 2009.
Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Evans, Oskaloosa, Brenda Doerr, Olathe, and Tammy Ivesdal, Jamestown, N.D.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
