Shirley Marguerite Douglass

Funeral service for Shirley Marguerite Douglass, 77, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Morning Star Church, 998 N. 1771 Road.
Mrs. Douglass died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.
She was born June 15, 1932 in Topeka, the daughter of Harry E. and Thelma M. Van Vleet Gerry.
She taught art, music and speech in Christian schools in Johnson County for many years. She and her husband managed the Pine Crest Apartments in Eudora for many years.
She married Lee S. Douglass on Oct. 15, 1954, in Topeka. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four sons, Kirk, DeSoto, Toby, Gardner, Stephen, Houston, and Nathan, El Paso, Texas; three daughters, Debbie Adhikary, Katmandu, Nepal, Sarah Albright, Fort Worth, Texas, and Rachel Hunt, Shawnee; four brothers, Richard Gerry, Bolivar, Mo., Larry Gerry, Topeka, Bob Freer, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Roy Freer, Granbury, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A reception for friends and family will be held prior to the funeral, at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
