Beatrice Fishburn Nicklin

Worden — A memorial service for Beatrice M. Fishburn Nicklin, 98, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Worden United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will follow at Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Nicklin died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at the home of her daughter Carol Overbey.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1911, in rural Franklin County, the daughter of Harvey and Margaret Pearl Grimsley Clark. She grew up on the family farm north of Centropolis.
After graduation from Ottawa High School in 1930, she worked for eight years as a rural school teacher in Franklin and Douglas counties. She was a member of the Worden United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She married Maurice Fishburn on May 20, 1936. He preceded her in death June 9, 1973. She married Leroy Nicklin on March 25, 1978. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Randall Clark Fishburn; a grandson, Stanley Fishburn Jr.; and her brothers Ivan Clark, Howard Clark and Fred Clark.
Survivors include three sons, Neal Fishburn and wife Belinda, Overbrook, Howard Fishburn, Kansas City, Mo., and Stanley Fishburn and wife Nancy, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Steiner, Centropolis, and Carol Overbey, Ottawa; a stepdaughter, Mariel Barrett, Emporia; a stepson, Vern Nicklin and wife Darlene, Emporia; a brother, Leonard Clark and wife Barbara, Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.
