Robert A. Wiley

Iowa City, Iowa — No services are planned for Robert A. “Bob” Wiley, 75, Iowa City. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa for scientific research.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.
Mr. Wiley was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the oldest son of Frank Hartman Wiley and Leona Elizabeth Letson Wiley. He was a graduate of public schools in Maryland.
He received a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of California, San Francisco.
Following service in the U.S. Army in Europe, Mr. Wiley was a professor of pharmacy at Kansas University for 22 years and at the University of Iowa for 16 years, where he was dean of the College of Pharmacy for seven years.
He enjoyed his work with the Rotary Club and with Habitat for Humanity.
He married Josephine Helen “Jo” Oleksy on Dec. 10, 1955, in Ann Arbor. She survives, of Iowa City.
Other survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth, Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Jim, Alpharetta, Ga., and David, Longmont, Colo.; a granddaughter, Alayna Wiley; and two brothers, Frank Gerald, Englewood, Ohio, and William, Burke, Va.
