Charity Vann

Funeral services for Charity Vann, 24, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morning Star Christian Church. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Vann died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at her home after a five-year battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 5, 1985, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of James and Madalon Scott Vann.
She graduated from Lawrence High School in 2005 and worked there for three years as a paraeducator in the handicapped room with Deb Engstrom. She attended and was a member of Morning Star Christian Church.
Survivors include her parents, of the home; five brothers, James Vann Jr., Lawrence, Howard Born and wife Lisa, Rantoul, P.J. Born and wife Jolene, Olathe, Jerome Cole and wife Yolanda, Memphis, Tenn., and Daniel Vann, of the home; four sisters, Rebekah Vann, Olathe, and Shannon, Kimberly and Angel Vann, all of the home; maternal grandmother Mary Ruth Scott, Lawrence; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Elmer and Mildred Vann, and maternal grandfather Howard Scott.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
