Wanda J. Shaw 1919 - 2009 Lawrence
A celebration of life for Wanda J. Shaw, 89, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Eagles Lodge ballroom, 1803 W. Sixth St. A dance will begin at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Shaw died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Bromide, Okla., the daughter of William and Lena Barb Cowan. She lived in Kansas and Texas during her early years and attended Winchester High School.
Mrs. Shaw was a dormitory director at Kansas University, and a partner in her husband’s home inspection company. She was a member of a band for five years and a guitar instructor for 15 years.
She married Jewell Herman Clark on Aug. 14, 1941, in Topeka. He died March 8, 1962. She married Leo Shaw on April 22, 1963, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David Carl Shaw, Las Vegas, and J. Jack Clark, Lenexa; two daughters, Carmen Sue Craig and Virginia “Trudy” Sipes, both of Lawrence; and two sisters, Iantha Sayler, Winchester, and Virginia Burrell, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Clark.
The family suggests memorials to the Wanda Shaw Memorial Fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
