Leon F. Condley 1924 - 2009 Topeka
Topeka — Funeral services for Leon F. Condley, 85, Topeka, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Crestview United Methodist Church in Topeka. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Stull Cemetery in Stull.
Mr. Condley died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Bowie, Texas, the son of Paul J. and Adella C. Ginn Condley. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1942.
Mr. Condley was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the William C. Miller naval carrier.
He was employed as a fireman for the city of Topeka for 32 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Condley was also employed by the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center for 37 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church.
He married Lois I. Hildenbrand on Sept. 9, 1956, in Stull. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Julia Strobel, Topeka; a son, Roy, Topeka; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Hazel Basker, Mishawaka, Ind., and Ann Bradley, Cascade, Colo.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
