James L. Ware, Sr.

Oskaloosa — A memorial service for James L. “Jim” Ware, Sr., 72, Oskaloosa, will be Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Ware family home. Cremation is planned.
Mr. Ware died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home in rural Oskaloosa.
He was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Aurora, the son of James Francis and Nellie Lois Morris Ware. He was a graduate of Wichita North High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Wichita State University.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in England and France.
Mr. Ware worked as a system analyst for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, retiring in 1999. He also had worked for the Capper Foundation in Topeka as an adaptive technician for many years.
He served two terms on the board of education for Oskaloosa school district. He was a member and the current president of the Friends of the Oskaloosa Public Library.
He married Paula Jo Lubin on Oct. 4, 1969, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Steve, Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Alex DeWolfe, Boulder, Colo.; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” Ware Jr., in 2008.
