Beverly Brand Anderson

A memorial service for Beverly Brand Anderson, 75, Signal Mountain, was conducted Oct. 17 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Signal Mountain. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009.
She was born on July 20, 1934, in Winfield, Kan., the daughter of John W. Sr. and Catharine Snyder Brand.
Mrs. Anderson was raised in Lawrence, Kan., and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas University in 1956. Her early career included teaching assignments in first, second and third grades in Ardmore, Okla., and Oklahoma City. She then was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She returned to teaching in 1984 and retired in 1999 after teaching for many years at Bachman Elementary School.
She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and an honorary life member of the Tennessee Congress of Parents and Teachers.
She and her husband lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and White Bear Lake, Minn., before moving to Signal Mountain in 1970.
She married Robert C. “Bob” Anderson. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, the Rev. Jon R. Anderson, Santa Fe, N.M., and Christopher M. Anderson, Evergreen Park, Ill.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Meyer, Knoxville, Tenn.; a granddaughter; and a brother, Jack Brand, Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Outreach Education Fund at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Signal Mountain or Hospice of Chattanooga, sent in care of Covenant Funeral and Cremation Service, 4340 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
