Viola Jean Smith

A celebration of life for Viola Jean Smith, 80, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Vintage Park of Baldwin City, 321 Crimson Ave.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Forrest, N.M., the daughter of Vesta James Kennedy and stepfather Don Kennedy. She graduated from high school in Forrest.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had lived in Alamosa, Colo., until moving to the area to be closer to family. She lived at Vintage Park of Baldwin City for the past two years.
She married George Donald Smith. He died in 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Smith, Olathe, and Donna Pospeck, Buhl, Minn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Vintage Park of Baldwin City’s Activity Fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
