Mary Lucille Simmons

A funeral service for Mary Lucille Simmons, 81, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Simmons died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1928, in Henry County, Mo., the daughter of James Milton and Fannie May Gunter Duvall.
She moved from Clinton, Mo., to Lawrence in 1952.
Mrs. Simmons retired from Hercules Inc. in 1984 and moved with her husband to Grove, Okla. They spent the winters in Yuma, Ariz.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrence, where she sang in the choir. She also sang in the choirs in Grove and Yuma. She was a member of Lady Elks in Grove.
She married Charles Simmons on Nov. 4, 1956, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include cousins and many others that were like family.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church Choir, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
